Lynn Houston: ATP, MBA – Founder/CEO
Lynn Houston is a uniquely passionate and engaging leader who has toured the United States in a one-woman show; worked as a Hollywood photographer; Chief Pilot of a flight school; Captain for an airline; Marketing Coordinator for the Santa Barbara Airport and is a recent graduate of the Antioch University, Santa Barbara, MBA program where she focused on non-profit management, social change, and strategic leadership. “The goal of A Different Point of View is to empower youth to lead a full and meaningful life. I am grateful to our Board of Directors, Advisory Council, Volunteers and Donors for their engagement and inspiration.”
Mike Linhart: I.A. – President
Mike Linhart is an FAA Certified I. A. AirFrame and Powerplant Mechanic. He was raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he spent most of his free time as a young adult working in auto body shops and modifying cars. His educational transition from vocational school to college resulted in his FAA Certified Airframe and Powerplant license. He was inspired to join ADPOV when he saw how eager the youth were to learn. “I feel fortunate to have gained the knowledge that I have – to not only live it, but to pass it on to the the students we serve.” Mike is a founding board member of A Different Point of View.
Angi Daus: MPA – Secretary
Angi Daus is originally from Wisconsin. After graduating she worked with a small sports based youth development NPO through the AmeriCorps VISTA Program. This was in partnership with Universities such as UCLA, USC, and Northridge where she worked through volunteers to create and implement youth mentor programs supported by afterschool sports programs. Angi moved to Santa Barbara to work within a large NPO focused on Cancer Control the Santa Barbara, Ventura and SLO County communities in a variety of ways.
Patrick Corrigan: CFII & MBA – Treasurer
Patrick Corrigan is a financial planner known as an interpersonal and influential leader who succeeds by evaluating risk and opportunities to support the organization’s mission, vision and core values. Proven expertise in bridging technical and creative environments by translating client goals and objectives into measurable outcomes. He is also a certified flight instructor and gives flight instruction to youth at A Different Point of View through Above All Aviation flight school.
Jamie Dufek: MBA
Jamie Dufek is a highly organized and detailed-oriented with over three strong years in a non-profit organization and 10 years of management experience. Highly adept in strategic planning, social business and leadership she is currently the Program Director at the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara. Jamie is also an accomplished award winning artist who works in multiple mediums to express her unique vision of the world.
Leonie Mattison: EdD., MBA
With a passion for helping organizations find new and improved ways to impact development, Leonie spearheads the design and development of industry-leading clinical trials, drawing on over 20 years of experience in research operations and business development for nonprofit organization, government agency and private sector. Among Leonie’s accomplishments is the design and implementation of a $20 million cutting-edge public health initiative for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, a government agency responsible for the overall health of the residents of New York City. Her success in bringing efficiences to this project led her to serve as a key player in building new and innovative partnerships in the development of ground-breaking protocols that seeks to improve the lives of individuals impacted by diabetes.She is invigorated by the challenges associated with working across matrixed structures requiring skill in connecting people across multiple functions and leveraging those strengths in cross-collaborative projects. She has proven expertise in strategic planning that translates into business performance metrics and notable success in mentoring, motivating and coaching teams into high impact contributors.
Martin Leyva is a strong advocate for youth and youth programs. He is well known for his ability with gang intervention/prevention skills and helping those with AOD issues. Martin is a Certified Drug and Alcohol Treatment Counselor who is working on his Masters in Sociology. In 2008, he founded the SBCC/EOPS Transitions Program; helping those affected by the Criminal Justice System reintegrate back to society with the help of therapy and education with the assistance of like-minded people. Martin is a founding member of A Different Point of View.
Judy Hawkins brings over 21 years of experience in training, leadership and organizational development to advance entrepreneurial culture in both the nonprofit and business sectors. She is the founder of Ruby Road Leadership and instructor of Entrepreneur Training at Santa Barbara City College. She served as Executive Director for the top performing SBA Women’s Business Centers in the nation, providing loans and services to entrepreneurs. Judy is a founding member of A Different Point of View.
Paul S. Phillips is a Captain at SkyWest Airlines based at Los Angeles International Airport. Paul believes that given a positive perspective, opportunity, and support anyone can achieve anything. His road to commercial airline pilot started early with primary flight training at the age of 15. After graduating from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a BA in Communication Studies, flight training continued at Sierra Academy of Aeronautics at Oakland International Airport. He has worked as a flight instructor, cargo pilot and briefly as a corporate pilot. Paul is a founding member and Chief Pilot of A Different Point of View.
Susan Hayes brings over 25 years of experience in the education field. She was the originator of the Geography Bee at Mountain View Elementary School, which afforded national participation for her students. She taught the 5th grade for 20 years and before retirement was in charge of the the Gifted Program at this California Distinguished School. Susan is a founding member of A Different Point of View.
Susan Young-Hernandez brings 25 years of experience working in youth, local government and community services programs. Originally from Compton, California, Susan managed Compton’s Neighborhood Center and was responsible for management of the budget, federal programs and special events. She is currently the Neighborhood and Outreach Services Supervisor for the City of Santa Barbara and played a key role in the development, planning, construction and implementation of the teen center.
Randy Copperman brings 30 years of experience in small to large enterprise businesses. Rterial, his own consulting company, delivers significant strategic and operating benefits for organizations worldwide. Copperman has served as vice president and Chief Information Officer at Raytheon Company as well as in executive leadership positions at other organizations.
Tina Fanucchi-Frontado, a native of Santa Barbara, has twenty-five years of philanthropic leadership in Santa Barbara County. She holds a Masters of Public Administration with an emphasis in Organizational & Strategic Management. She has a distinguished career in Philanthropic Leadership and Corporate Industry working with leadership teams to design and execute comprehensive organizational effectiveness strategies and programs that deliver sustainable results.
Terri Gibson believes that “young people are an ever inspiring component for vital community life where their opportunities need to be limitless to ensure global harmony.” She is a native Californian and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she became an educator. Terri is a founding member of A Different Point of View.
Tomas Bengtsson is currently a Captain on the Airbus and lives in Majorca. He became involved in aviation at an early age. Born in Sweden, he joined the Swedish Air Force Cadet Program and learned to fly gliders. He came to the U. S. to fulfill his dream of becoming an airplane pilot, building time through flight instructing and ferrying planes around the world. He is a founding member of A Different Point of View.
Valeria Boffi Ismael, originally from Argentina, left at an early age to seek her own way in the world. She landed on the Mayan Riviera of the Yucatan where she worked as a Personal Trainer and Spa Manager until 2008. Turning 29 she decided to make real one of her childhood dreams…to fly. She is a founding member of A Different Point of View.
